Programme Officer (Health and Social Care)

Role Overview

Arts Care is Northern Ireland’s leading Arts in Health organisation. We deliver a wide range of participatory and commissioned arts programmes at the heart of Health and Social Care and Community across Northern Ireland. Arts Care’s aim is to enhance the quality-of-service users, staff and community’s experience within healthcare through participation in and access to quality Arts engagement.

The post holder will join the Artistic Programming function. This department provides a range of administrative, practical, and logistical support for our transformative arts activities throughout Northern Ireland. This includes supporting our growing Artist Programme within Health and Social Care. The post holder will assist the Head of Operations and Artistic Direction supporting the co-ordination of the delivery of art, dance, music and creative writing projects into Health and Social Care Trusts and Clown Doctor delivery across NI.

Main Responsibilities

  • Management and supervision of Arts Care Artists and Clown Doctors.
  • Organisation and coordination of all aspects of the project programming, workshops, exhibitions, performance showcases, and other events that may arise through the Health and Social Care programme.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and agencies supporting arts in health and mental health and well-being across Northern Ireland.
  • Sourcing arts venues and arts commissioners.
  • Support the Head of Operations and Artistic Direction to process Arts Care project requests/referrals.
  • Work with Finance to implement business processes for Arts Care projects under the new CRM system.
  • Complete administration around project budgets and financial recording.
  • Document, monitor, and evaluate the projects and contribute to organisational monitoring and funder returns.
  • Support the Communications function to coordinate all communications, PR, and marketing of the Clown Doctors and Arts Care programmes.
  • Assist the Head of Operations and Artistic Direction.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria:

(a) Third level qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject.
(b) A minimum of 3 years’ experience involved in the coordination, administration, and delivery of projects.
(c) Experience of supervising and managing payroll or contracted staff.
(d) Evidence of the ability to closely liaise with and organise a diverse group of stakeholders including Health and Social Care Trusts, artists, service users, funders, and other commissioning organisations/agencies.
(e) Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively and work as a member of a team.
(f) Evidence of good organisational skills, the ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.
(g) Evidence of experience in the use of IT systems, including the Internet, Email, Databases, PowerPoint, Spreadsheets (Excel), and word processing.
(h) Evidence of experience in effectively managing a budget.
(i) Hold a current driving licence and have access to a car to fulfil the duties of the post.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in an Arts environment (e.g., events planning, front of house, performances, exhibitions).

In the event of a large quantity of candidates, Arts Care will utilise desirable criteria for shortlisting.
