Title of Work: Trip Down Memory Lane
Facilitating Artist: Maeve Cassidy
‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ Each service user will create their own photo album containing his or her life experiences using mixed media that include paints, collage, letters, journaling, inspired handwriting and personal photographs - Our project “Trip Down Memory Lane” celebrates each individual’s life journey through the art of photo album making.
The albums contain creative and precious moments in their lives. They are personal to each participant, and because no person’s journey is the same, ‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ inspires them to relive those memories in their lives and reflect upon a moment they will cherish forever.
Their albums are handmade containing personal photographs, quotes and stories that are unique to them which symbolise past and future adventures that have influenced them and encouraged ‘Life’s Road Trip’ through creative reflection.
This project is driven by the unique memories and adventures that the participants would like to share and reminisce together through collaborative storytelling with one another.
Also, by reliving moments of their lives that are very precious to them and through creative reminiscing they reconnect with their past and inspire them by filling in those blank pages they may not have explored previously.
In life it’s okay to not have all your blank pages filled, their album encourages and inspires them for future adventures and reflect upon those they want to remember.
‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ celebrates life’s own unique journey through their own creative and memorable photo albums.
As a group, each participant shared their own stories and life experiences with one another which inspired them to re-connect with their past and be proud of their accomplishments in their lives. The albums were sectioned into different themes to encourage the group to reminisce and reflect upon fond memories that they had not thought of in a long time.
Using an exploration of materials, the group created their albums using a variety of mixed medias which was a lot of fun. Themes such as family, education and achievements were included to explore their own unique timeline and relive moments in their lives. This also encouraged their family members to become involved too and share photographs together and reflect upon their memories with one another. It was an absolute pleasure to work with a group of artists and to witness their life stories and each of their journeys unfold through creative storytelling. I was truly inspired to be part of this collaborative adventure and see the joy and how precious their memories meant to them, which is what ‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ is all about.
