Remarkable
The ‘Remarkable’ Project is a partnership involving Arts Care & the Ulster Orchestra that articulates the stories, voices and lived experiences of ordinary people who became extraordinary and ‘Remarkable People’ by their experiences and actions of the Covid-19 Global Pandemic. It is a project of reflection and hope.
The Making of ‘Remarkable’: The Ulster Orchestra commissioned Elaine Agnew and Writer John Toal to create a unique piece inspired by the words and experiences of all those who participated in the Arts Care Art Workshops in Health, Social and Community Care settings throughout the pandemic. The project has gathered in hundreds of voices across all Health and Social Care Trusts.
The project also involved the production of a ‘Remarkable’ film that not only captures the recording of the music with the Ulster Orchestra and choirs Codetta & the Arts Care Southern Health and Social Care Trust Choir at the Waterfront Hall by videographer (UO Digital Content Manager) David Kinghan but also includes film footage gathered during the months of the pandemic in healthcare and home settings by young film-maker Francesca Elliott. The film was produced by the ‘Production Company’ Belfast and the audio was recorded by ‘LSFX Productions’.
The Premiere of ‘Remarkable’
The live performance of ‘Remarkable’ was premiered alongside the screening of the ‘Remarkable’ Film at the Opening Night of the City of Derry International Choir Festival, Wed 20th October 2021, 7.30pm at the Millennium Forum Derry/Londonderry.
