The Skylarks programme transforms residential homes into vibrant spaces of engagement and interaction. By encouraging participation in group activities, Skylarks creates opportunities for shared experiences and builds a sense of community among residents. Music can unlock memories, storytelling can spark conversations, and gentle movement can bring renewed vitality. This approach addresses the emotional and psychological well-being of residents, creating a profound impact on their overall quality of life.
Skylarks isn’t just about activities; it’s about creating a holistic model of care that prioritises emotional and psychological health alongside physical needs. By integrating the arts into dementia care, we aim to transform residential homes from places of mere care into spaces of connection, creativity, and joy.
Skylarks sessions incorporate creative activities like music, storytelling, comedy, gentle circus skills, reminiscence, dance, and movement, all designed to spark imagination, encourage self-expression, and foster meaningful connections.
Our team of Clown Doctors has adapted their costumes, materials, and artistic methods to suit this new audience. With specialised training, they are ready to create moments of joy and connection for older adults
